In this video I answer Troy's question about how to add a Youtube Subscription Widget to your site or WordPress Blog. Here is Troy's question:
Hi Carl, Please tell me what you use to have one of my channels show up on the right sidebar of this site for a request to subscribe to your channel?? What triggered it and why wouldn't it pick up my other channels?
Troy, thanks for your question, now, rather than trying to type it out I decided to do a video to answer your question.
Here is the code to copy to your site. Make sure you change the RED code to your own channel name.
<div style="text-align:center;"><iframe id="fr" src="https://www.youtube.com/subscribe_widget?p=[ADD_your_channel_ID]" style="overflow: hidden; height: 105px; width: 325px; border: 0;" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0"></iframe></div>
Now, once you are done you should be able to see your Youtube Subscription Widget like you see here.

This is great to be able to displace your channel..videos are what people like to see the most versus reading content..

Hi Carl!
This is awesome! Usually people are posting about the wonderfulness of WordPress plug-ins or other things you can install on blogs, but that aren’t compatible with Blogger. Yeah, I’m still using Blogger, but it’s what I’ve got. This widget works! I can’t tell you how excited it makes me.
Thanks again!
Delena
Hi Carl, thanks for the great video – easy to follow and to the point! Definitely something that I’m going to put up on my blog.
Justin
Hello Carl,
I tried the code and it would not work for my Learn How To Blog Site. I have tried everything, and watched the video three times to see what I am doing wrong. It sill will not put the youtube subscriptioni widget into my site?
Cheers
Lisa
Lisa,
can you tell me exactly what error you are getting or not getting? Cause so far everyone that has done it has worked for them, so wanna make sure it’s not human error 😉
This is really neat. I can use this for one of my lawyer clients. They have tons of help videos on their website!
Thanks, Carl – now I need a YouTube channel. 🙂
So much to do, so little time…actually just wanted to thank you for the solid tips.
Hi Carl,
I tried everything and i couldn’t get the code to work. i even tried putting it on more than one site to see if the website was the problem.
When I add the text widget with the code I see my own website header and not YouTube subscribe button and logo?
I think it’s a great idea and i can really use it for my clients.
Any ideas of what I can try?
Tim,
there are probably a number of factors 1) When you copied the text from my site is may have converted the ” symbols to the italacized ” instead of the regular ones, so to fix you copy and paste into a plain text document and do a global replace. 2) Check your theme to make sure you have widgets for the sidebar 3) Look to see if there are any conflicks with the theme, maybe try on one of the blogs a different theme? Just in case that is the issue..
Let me know how you go.
Carl
Thanks for this video its really nice and this widget will display a YouTube SUBSCRIBE button, the number of subscribers and videos in the sidebar it has grown to be the biggest self-giving blogging tool in the world and used on millions of sites and seen by tens of millions of people every day.
Nice video Carl, thanks very much.
Hi Carl, I have been trying this all morning and it is not working. I am entering it into the 2nd side bar widget just as you say. After I save it and refresh the page, there is nothing there. So then I go back and open the text to see what is in there and this is what is there –
The code I pasted is no longer there. I did put my user name in where it goes.
Debi,
I have sent you an email with some suggestions, see if they work, as I don’t know the ins and outs of your theme, so there may be some things within that that may be causing some issues.
Also make sure you have sidebar widgets enabled within your theme.
*** NOTE: To Fix The Quotation Marks Error ***
Some people when they copy from my blog have had errors, this is because of the quotations marks not being the proper ones, you need to change all quotations marks from the ” (forward leaning ones) to the “? (straight up and down ones), do this inside NOTEPAD or similar, and not in MS WORD do a global search and replace. 🙂
Carl
Hello, Carl.
Great video. I would suggest some sort of annotation in the YouTube video itself for those of use who struggled with the slanted double quote issue. It took me some time to get through the comments to see how this problem was resolved. Having it in the video would make the experience much easier.
Again, thank you for this tip! I will implement it in all my WP installations!
Great advice. can’t wait to go try it out on my own blog. Thanks for sharing.
