In case you’ve been living in a vacuum, most people use their websites as their business model for making money. Naturally, you’ll need to make it possible for people to find it. All those folks who visit your site and love it are collectively called, traffic – website traffic, search engine traffic, etc.
This is because the more people who see your site, the more likely you are to make sales and earn money. Naturally, all IM marketers are in it to make money, so making as much as possible is the end-game. Next on the agenda… talk about getting more traffic to your site – the rest is up to you.
You don’t want to manually submit your site to the major search engines, but it’s fine to manually submit to secondary search engines which will help you in certain ways.
Manually submitting with Google’s submit form is not needed at all, and you can do it faster using social media techniques. Of course submitting to secondary engines takes a little time. The reason for doing this is the major search engines will view those backlinks, which they’ll be, as a sign of more popularity, plus you’ll get added traffic from them.
You can get backlinks in very many ways, and it’s true that some will carry more weight than others. So you’ll benefit from having a variety of sources which will look very natural to Google.
One very effective technique is to write articles, and then post them to article directories and other places. And do not forget your link(s) in the article bio box at the bottom of the article. The net’s full of article directories, and some are more powerful than others. But directories can be picky, so be careful about submitting the exact same article everywhere.
Some directories are pretty hard about this, and they’ll ban you for doing it. But this doesn’t need to be a problem with several new articles each week plus a good content spinner. The more content you put out there, people will become more aware of you and your traffic will increase.
If you can do it, get involved with offline advertising and marketing. Do not underestimate the power of offline advertising to drive traffic to your website. A well-written classified ad in magazines can bring you a lot of traffic.
Giving away freebies like coffee cups, mousepads, and pens, etc can help to spread the word about your site. Offline marketing will help you tap into an audience of people who aren’t as well versed in internet marketing sales techniques which can help you make more sales.
There are quite a few ways to drive traffic to your site. Remember, though: traffic generation is an ongoing process. You need to spend time every day building links to your site and encouraging people to check out what you are selling. With so much variety, hopefully it won’t need to be a boring task. Also, a lot of marketers are driven by thinking of how they may profit from all the various tasks they have to do.
